Show shark policy smarts

Augusta Margaret River Times - - News - Michael Stewart, Busselton

I really loved your headline in last week’s Times, (Drum line policy a last resort, 15/9), because in my opinion, that’s where it should be placed.

Former Premier Colin Barnett’s ill-thought-out support of the scheme is one of the reasons he’s no longer the premier.

I’m no Einstein, but it doesn’t make much sense to me.

How is placing hooks with tasty shark food on them going to keep sharks away from our beaches? Surely it will attract them. Healthy oceans need sharks and the prioritising of more environmentally friendly ways of keeping our swimmers safe is the only option. I think most intelligent people in the South West are right behind Minister Dave Kelly on this one.
