Wrong papers cause ballot confusion
Council candidates were disturbed about news last week of an error by the WA Electoral Commission affecting local ratepayers.
The commission confirmed 579 voters within the Augusta-Marga- ret River Shire were sent ballots for the Kalgoorlie-Boulder local government election. “The commission has written to the affected electors, who have been advised to tear up the Kalgoorlie-Boulder package,” an unnamed spokesman said. “. . .these packages have been cancelled and will/can have no effect on the election.” The spokesman said no other council areas were sent wrong papers.
