Veteran Dale too good in Stableford
Alan Dale did it again at Tuesday’s Veterans Stableford with a score of 21 points. Mike Lawson came close second with 20 points.
It was a big day in perfect conditions for the 38-hole Ladies foursomes championship.
Megan Booth won the ladies honour board event with Sarah Roddy.
Kerry Farrelly and Sue Bloxam were second-best with 178 on countback.
Best net score went to Wendy Chidgey and Leonie Bell (147) on a countback from Rosie Basford and Rosie Burnett.
Jo Pyatt won the nine-hole Sta- bleford with 18 points. The second round of the Four Cheeky Amigos drew a field of 93.
Graham Smith came out of top with a great score of 43, followed by Geoff Barrett (40) and Dave Noske (38).
Val Melerie did well on Friday to finish top female player, while Fred Murton (15) was top male.
The first round of the men’s championships began on Saturday. Jim House (71) scored best.
The gross went to Jules Ashton (79) while Roy Warren (69) won the Sunday. Best gross was Marc Halsall (80).
The prestigious Paddy Barrett Trophy went to Dave Glasson with a total score of 138. Ray Mann just missed out with 142 and Terry Halsall (147) was third.
In Sunday’s mixed Stableford, Allison Kelly beat Wendy Chidgey on a countback from 38 points. Rhonda Hearn scored 34 points for third place, getting the better of Helen Priest.
