Cowaramup chase ti­tle de­fence

Cowaramup are hop­ing to de­fend their A-grade premier­ship win af­ter beat­ing Yallingup-Od­dbods at Barnard Turf last Satur­day.

YOBS won the toss, but Cowaramup bat­ted first, scor­ing nine for 199. Mike Hib­berd hit 40 for the Bulls, while new skip­per Sam Beridge hit 32.

But the Bulls’ suc­cess did not con­tinue in the B-grade.

The home side fell to Duns­bor­ough in the first in­nings. Duns­bor­ough’s Nathan Whit­ney and Ben Dana­her bat­ted well, hit­ting 55 and 43 re­spec­tively, while Cowaramup’s Robert Men­zies was the best bats­man for the team, hit­ting 55.

St Mary’s beat Mar­garet River Hawks in the A-grade com­pe­ti­tion at Bovell Turf.

The Hawks won the toss and bat­ted first, but could not se­cure a win. Im­port Rumesh Silva bat­ted well in his first game of the sea­son, hit­ting 55.

Mar­garet River also fell to YOBS in the B-grade com­pe­ti­tion at Barnard Hard­wicket. YOBS took the win in the first in­nings.

YOBS’ David Cameron hit 59 and Ethan Pig­gott hit 46 for the game.
