Shire must show restraint
The Shire’s grab for more tourist dollars smells of greed to me. It would just add to the nickname Mark-up River.
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River has spent millions of dollars on the civic centre building and increased our rates threefold in a short time and yet still can’t seem live within its means.
Being more humble and moderate in your spending and not wanting everything at once would bring more balance to the budget.
“Got ta have more money” is a modern-day disease. Its symptoms are grabbing cash, looking for opportunities to grab cash and being discontented unless you are getting more cash.
Probably caused by “Got ta be seen doing more” or “Got ta be seen having more ”.
