Coal Truth author set for fes­ti­val

David Rit­ter, Green­peace Aus­tralia Pa­cific chief ex­ec­u­tive and author of soon-to-be-re­leased book The Coal Truth, will speak at the Margaret River Read­ers and Writ­ers Fes­ti­val next week­end.

Be­fore join­ing Green­peace, Rit­ter was one of Aus­tralia’s lead­ing Abo­rig­i­nal rights lawyers and he is the author of Con­test­ing Na­tive Ti­tle and The Na­tive Ti­tle Mar­ket.

The fu­ture of Aus­tralia’s coal in­dus­try leads Rit­ter’s lat­est work, which ex­plores the fight to stop the open­ing of the vast Galilee coal basin in Queens­land.

Rit­ter will share the stage with jour­nal­ist Peter Greste, do­mes­tic vi­o­lence cam­paigner Rosie Batty, author An­drew Rof­fand and lo­cal high school stu­dents for the free How to Change the World Q&A ses­sion at 1pm next Fri­day.

Rit­ter will also speak on the main stage at 3.30pm in The Fight To Stop Adani ses­sion.
