Big swell awaits competitors

Augusta Margaret River Times - - Sport - Therese Colman

Margaret River bodyboarders will tackle a forecast large swell and strong winds off Mandurah’s coast this weekend for the final instalment of the WA Bodyboard Titles.

After an action-packed series opener in Margaret River in March, WA’s best riders have been fine-tuning their skills with hopes of qualifying for the Australian Bodyboard Titles in NSW in August.

Local under-16 cadet boys Ziggy Bullock and Max McGregor placed second and fourth in round 1, while over-35 masters competitor Michael Reid came second in his division.

All three will compete again this weekend, with Bullock and McGregor up against current under-16 Australian champion Joel Hughan from Trigg Beach.

Preliminary rounds will begin at 8am tomorrow, with finals planned for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
