Competitors ready for open karate tournament
The 2018 Margaret River Open Karate Tournament will begin at 9am at the Recreation Centre on Sunday.
The annual event, which has been running for more than 25 years, has become a highlight on the WA karate calendar and attracts competitors of all ages from all over WA bent on pitting their fighting skills against each other in friendly rivalry.
This year will prove no exception with more than 100 competitors expected to descend on the community from as far away as Toodyay, Fremantle, Perth, Waroona and Busselton.
Competition will start with the traditional kata events during the morning.
The ever-popular kumite fighting is expected to draw fire throughout the afternoon and is a popular part of the tournament with the public.
The event is open to all and members of the public are asked to cheer on the competitors.
