Caves access input sought
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is advertising changes to local laws that will restrict public access to Aboriginal caves on the Margaret River. The changes are designed “to protect the environmental and heritage values of the Wallcliffe Cliffs and surrounding area”. The amended law would also designate boat-landing points along the river.
The move follows disquiet about damage to trees and caves from visitors.
Public submissions close on June 22.
