Brazil’s Willian Cardoso and France’s Johanne Defay were crowned winners of the Uluwatu Championship Tour at the weekend.

Bali’s Bukit Peninsula played host to the 2018 Margaret River Pro make-up event after it was cancelled in April, halfway through the competition.

Cardoso, 2018 CT rookie, dom- inated his heats, taking advantage of the 4-to-6-foot swell.

The final round was no different as he came up against Australia’s World Title threat Julian Wilson.

In a neck-and-neck battle for victory, Cardoso came out on top with a combined score of 15.57 to Wilson’s 14.43, winning the men’s event.

Although he did not finish on top, Wilson’s appearance in the finals placed him back on top of the World Surf League 2018 CT leader- board. The women’s semifinal saw Australian powerhouses, six-time WSL champion Stephanie Gilmore and reigning two-time WSL Champion Tyler Wright bow out with equal third-place finishes.

Brazil’s Tatiana Weston-Web took on Defay in the final heat of the competition. Defay claimed victory with an overall score of 13.13 to Weston-Webb’s 12.67.

The next stop on the CT is the Corona Open J-Bay in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa from July 2-13.
