Works begin on new oval
Work will start this week on a new playing field at Gloucester Park, with a $1.1 million redevelopment of the lower western oval.
With dog walkers worried about where they’ll meet up in future, the long-awaited transformation will develop a grass pitch suitable for sports including soccer, hockey and rugby.
Shire of Augusta-Margaret Riv- er recreation manager Dylan Brown said the project included groundworks, fencing, and lighting for maximum utility through the year. “There has been significant pressure on our sporting ovals for some time now so this additional playing pitch is a huge coup for the community,” he said.
The project is due to finish by the end of January.
