Margaret River’s muchloved annual pet show returns ahead of this year’s Margaret River Agricultural Society Show.

Families and pet owners are encouraged to register for the fun event before October 11, with the parade and prizes held on Friday, October 12, from 4.30pm, coinciding with the opening of the show.

Cape Creatures Veterinary Hospital owner Phil Berry said many local businesses supported the venture each year and the child-friendly pet show continued to grow.

“It’s clear that the show has become a very popular event with local families,” he said.

“With more than 50 entries last year, children are able to parade their pets, large and small, including fish, dogs, cats and birds — and even sheep.”

Prize-winning categories included best-kept dog and cat, best-kept rodent and rabbit, best pet-and-owner lookalikes, most colourful pet, cutest baby animal, best fancy-dressed pet, best performing pet, best rescue dog, and the pet with the wiggliest rear end.

“It is a great opportunity to show our community support and host a fantastic family event,” Dr Berry said.

“The other businesses that support it as sponsors, in my opinion, are worthy of some sort of acknowledgement also, because without them or us, there would be no pet show that is the size of what it is today.”

Entry forms are available in the agricultural show catalogue or from Cape Crea- tures Vet Hospital’s front desk.

Entry costs a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to Capes animal rescue charity FAWNA.
