St John team finalists for top award
Augusta’s St John Ambulance sub-centre officers were honoured at a function in Perth this month as finalists in the sub-centre of the year award.
Augusta volunteers took part in the State conference on September 1 providing further education and skills development, as well as networking opportunities.
Additional honours were heaped on Lorraine Dusci, Brendan Jordan and Paul Byers, who all received service recognition awards.
“It was both a surprise and honour for the dedicated Augusta volunteers to be recognised by St John at a State level,” sub-centre chairwoman Leisa Prangnell said.
St John has also installed 24-hour access defibrillators at the Augusta and Karridale primary schools, taking the total number of defibrillators donated for use around Augusta to 19.
The sub-centre committee is also working hard to deliver a new patient transfer facility at the Augusta Airstrip to support Royal Flying Doctor Service patients.
St John Ambulance volunteers, including Leisa Prangnell and Debby Thompson, centre, were honoured for their hard work at a State conference this month.
