Local surfers Emma Cattlin, Seth Van Haeften and Cy Cox have wrapped up their time at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre.

The trio are the only West Australians recruited for the Australian Junior Surfing Team and the intensive two-day training camp prepared them for the upcoming World Junior Championships.

The camp focused on surf and land-based training, utilising the recently expanded HPC. Margaret River’s Van Haeften and Cox, and Yallingup’s Cattlin make up a quarter of the 12-strong team.

Team coach Kate Wilcomes said after narrowly missing out on a team bronze medal at last year’s championships in Japan, the team will look to improve their fourth-place finish. “We have a lot of valuable experiences to draw from at past (International Surfing Association) events,” she said.

The World Junior Surfing Championship will be held at California’s Huntington Beach from October 27.
