WE ARE very pleased with the amaz­ing progress be­ing made in Queens­land with trainee and ap­pren­tice place­ments at record highs and an above bud­get fi­nan­cial re­sult be­ing achieved for the 2014/15 fis­cal year . These re­sults are to­tally due to the ef­forts of Qld man­ager Ali­cia Oelk­ers, field of­fi­cer Brian Cook and of­fice ad­min­is­tra­tor Brooke Carac­ci­olo. Their hard work is cer­tainly pay­ing div­i­dends.

Fitec Aus­tralia

The first meet­ing of the new Fitec Aus­tralia board was held in Bris­bane on July 31. The board mem­bers are An­drew Bone (Bone Tim­ber SA), Ian Halliday (ex Harper Tim­ber NSW), Mark Louri­gan (Hyne Tim­ber Qld), Jim Burgess (DAF Qld) and Danny Lake (Wes­beam Qld). Un­der the lead­er­ship of gen­eral man­ager June Dun­leavy, a Fitec strat­egy meet­ing was held in Syd­ney in May and a strat­egy to move for­ward na­tion­ally was im­ple­mented.

TABMA South Aus­tralia

State Man­ager Ali­cia Oelk­ers has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Tony Scar­inci to the po­si­tion of se­nior field of­fi­cer. Tony com­menced with TABMA on July 6.

South Aus­tralia Fo­rum

As pre­vi­ously an­nounced TABMA has been work­ing closely with the SA govern­ment and is now the con­duit be­tween our in­dus­try and govern­ment in SA. To this end a fo­rum was held in Ade­laide on May 27 and at­tended by 35 per­sons rep­re­sent­ing a cross sec­tion of in­dus­try and govern­ment. Per­ti­nent in­dus­try mat­ters were dis­cussed and many is­sues re­solved.

TABMA Na­tional Awards and In­dus­try Dinner

Led by Ian Halliday and Ali­cia Oelk­ers, judg­ing for the 2015 TABMA na­tional awards com­menced on Au­gust 5. The award cat­e­gories are Best Frame & Truss Fabri­ca­tor, Best Tim­ber Mer­chant, Best Build­ing Ma­te­ri­als Cen­tre, Whole­saler of the Year, Most In­no­va­tive Mem­ber, Sales Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Year, Host Em­ployer of the Year, Trainee of the Year, Ap­pren­tice of the Year and Mem­ber of the Year.

This year the Awards Dinner will be held in Syd­ney at Dock­side, Cockle Bay on Fri­day Novem­ber 6. We are ex­tremely grate­ful for the fi­nan­cial sup­port be­ing shown by ma­jor spon­sors: Gun­nersen Meyer Tim­ber ITI Swan Le Mes­surier John Cook & Sons ATS Tim­ber With­out the sup­port of these com­pa­nies the Dinner would not be pos­si­ble.

Head Of­fice Premises

TABMA has rene­go­ti­ated the lease on our premises at 486 Pa­cific High­way, St Leonards, NSW for an­other 2 years at a very com­pet­i­tive rate. Our of­fices are very cen­trally lo­cated on the lower North Shore and are only 15 min­utes from the Syd­ney CBD.
