Bal­larat firm wins MBA Na­tional Young Builder of the Year Award

VIC­TO­RIAN RE­GIONAL builder David Moyle, from Bal­larat Con­struc­tion Man­age­ment, has been recog­nised as the WoodSo­lu­tions Na­tional Young Builder of the Year. The award was an­nounced at the Mas­ter Builder’s Na­tional Awards din­ner in Can­berra’s Great Hall. Th­ese pres­ti­gious Na­tional Ex­cel­lence in Build­ing and Con­struc­tion Awards ac­knowl­edge ex­cel­lence in the build­ing and con­struc­tion in­dus­try and are pre­sented each year by Mas­ter Builders Aus­tralia (MBA). Spon­sored by WoodSo­lu­tions, the Young Builder of the Year Award has been run­ning since 2008 and complements other awards, in­clud­ing the MBA’s Ap­pren­tice of the Year Award. All en­trants in the Best Young Builder cat­e­gory must be un­der 40 years of age. The 2016 re­cip­i­ent of the award, David Moyle, breaks a win­ning streak of young West­ern Aus­tralian builders, who have won the pre­vi­ous four an­nual awards. Based in re­gional Vic­to­ria, David’s build­ing com­pany, Bal­larat Con­struc­tion Man­age­ment, spe­cialises in in­di­vid­u­ally de­signed, qual­ity projects rang­ing from sin­gle res­i­den­tial to small and medium com­mer­cial projects, through­out the State. Born and ed­u­cated in Bal­larat and an ac­tive mem­ber of Mas­ter Builders, David was Chair­man of Mas­ter Builders Vic­to­ria’s Coun­try Sec­tor in 2014 and is cur­rently on Vic­to­ria’s Board of Man­age­ment. He has also been in­volved in judg­ing and giv­ing guid­ance to ap­pren­tices. “It’s great to see recog­ni­tion of a young builder based in ru­ral and re­gional Aus­tralia,” said Eileen New­bury, Pro­gram Man­ager for WoodSo­lu­tions and Na­tional Mar­ket­ing and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ager for For­est and Wood Prod­ucts Aus­tralia, the in­dus­try ser­vices com­pany that re­sources WoodSo­lu­tions, the spon­sor of the Award. “David is adopt­ing in­dus­try-lead­ing prac­tices and pro­cesses in re­gional Vic­to­ria,” Eileen said, “and their com­mit­ment to keep­ing work lo­cal is also po­ten­tially ben­e­fi­cial to wood and wood prod­ucts, many of which are pro­duced or man­u­fac­tured in re­gional and ru­ral ar­eas.” The 2017 Na­tional Ex­cel­lence in Build­ing and Con­struc­tion Awards will be pre­sented as part of the Na­tional Con­fer­ence on Satur­day 25 Novem­ber as the grand fi­nale to a con­fer­ence in Ho­bart.
