Tragic loss of lives
AFCA EXTENDS deepest sympathies to both Tabeel Trading and the families of those affected following the loss of four forest workers in a single vehicle accident on the weekend in Penola, South Australia.
There is no doubt this tragic accident will have far reaching and devastating impacts on both the communities and businesses within the region and our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time.
In a mark of respect and in memory of the four lives lost, people working in the forest industry have been encouraged via a social media campaign to put their hard hats or high vis gear outside to support the families, friends and co-workers. #PutYourHardHatsOut
The Australian Forest Products Association has also announced that there was an observed minutes silence at the start of the Parliamentary Friends of Forestry and Forest Products dinner in Canberra as an opportunity for the industry to acknowledge the tragic loss of these four young men and show support and compassion for their families.
