Tragic loss of lives

AFCA EX­TENDS deep­est sym­pa­thies to both Tabeel Trad­ing and the fam­i­lies of those af­fected fol­low­ing the loss of four for­est work­ers in a sin­gle ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on the week­end in Penola, South Aus­tralia.

There is no doubt this tragic ac­ci­dent will have far reach­ing and dev­as­tat­ing im­pacts on both the com­mu­ni­ties and busi­nesses within the re­gion and our thoughts are with them all dur­ing this dif­fi­cult time.

In a mark of re­spect and in mem­ory of the four lives lost, peo­ple work­ing in the for­est in­dus­try have been en­cour­aged via a so­cial me­dia cam­paign to put their hard hats or high vis gear out­side to sup­port the fam­i­lies, friends and co-work­ers. #PutYourHardHat­sOut

The Aus­tralian For­est Prod­ucts As­so­ci­a­tion has also an­nounced that there was an ob­served min­utes si­lence at the start of the Par­lia­men­tary Friends of Forestry and For­est Prod­ucts din­ner in Can­berra as an op­por­tu­nity for the in­dus­try to ac­knowl­edge the tragic loss of these four young men and show sup­port and com­pas­sion for their fam­i­lies.
