VIEW FROM THE STANDS
This season will be different to last because
with Roy signing off the incomings and taking a full pre-season, we hope to avoid the stress of the previous campaign.
Keep an eye out for
right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Quick and excellent in the tackle, he was only introduced due to an injury crisis and now he’s the likely first choice.
Our most underrated player is
James Tomkins. Paying $18m in 2016 looks a snip in retrospect.
Our pantomime villain is
Jose Mourinho, so desperate for a title.
Fans of other clubs might not know that
our women’s side were the biggest losers in the creation of Manchester United’s equivalent. Not being named a Championship side was a huge blow.
One change I would make at our club is
to remove The Crystals, our club cheerleaders. It’s a little out of date, plus I’m concerned for the heart rate of the bloke behind me.
Save the date for
Brighton away on December 4. I hope all Palace fans with tickets get in this time.
This season we will finish
in the top 10. We could ‘do a Burnley’.
FFT asks: Looking at the fixture list, are you confident Palace can avoid a repeat of last year’s record-breaking bad start?
Yes. The earlier our first point comes, the better, but we won’t be going into our eighth game with neither a goal nor point this time.
