Kangaroo paw

Australian Geographic - - Wild Australia -

It’s easy to see why the striking red and green kangaroo paw is the floral emblem of Western Australia. Found in southwestern WA, this annual shrub sports bright red flower stalks, bearing green flowers that fan out in a small arc. Growing on coastal plains from north of Geraldton to Albany, the species is protected and does not naturally grow anywhere else in the world.
