Un­for­get­table im­ages

This beau­ti­fully back­lit por­trait of a western grey kan­ga­roo

( Macro­pus fulig­i­nosus) was cap­tured by Ge­orgina Steytler and en­tered into the 2017 AUS­TRALIAN GE­O­GRAPHIC Nature Pho­tog­ra­pher of the Year com­pe­ti­tion where it was short­listed in the An­i­mal Por­trait cat­e­gory.

The 2018 com­pe­ti­tion is now open for en­tries and will close on Thurs­day 25 Jan­uary 2018 at 5pm (ACDT). En­try is open to pho­tog­ra­phers of all ages and na­tion­al­i­ties who fo­cus their lenses on the fauna, flora or nat­u­ral land­scapes of the ANZANG biore­gion: Aus­tralia, New Zealand, Antarc­tica and the New Guinea re­gion.

Cash prizes are on of­fer for cat­e­gory win­ners and runnersup of the com­pe­ti­tion’s nine cat­e­gories, and the over­all win­ner will re­ceive $10,000 cash and a hol­i­day prize.
