A multi-day walk requires essential gear to ensure your adventure is safe and enjoyable.
BACKPACK: 65–80L capacity CLOTHING: take layers (base, mid, outer), plus a Gore-Tex jacket and pants and a down jacket TENT: lightweight three-season rating
SLEEPING BAG: three-season rating SLEEPING MAT: three-season rating BOOTS: worn-in hiking; leather recommended GAITERS: to protect lower legs from scratches and leeches
TREK POLES: highly recommended, because they aid balance with a heavy backpack, plus take some of the load off the legs PACK LINER: keeps all gear inside your pack dry
FOOD: dehydrated rations are lightweight and nourishing WATER: a water bladder (e.g. CamelBak), plus a bottle and water purifiers FIRST-AID KIT: know how to use it
