BREEDING QUOKKAS, ROTTNEST ISLAND

Any time of year is a good time to enjoy the ridiculously cute quokkas of Rottnest Island, a 90-minute ferry ride from Perth. But late summer and autumn is when they are likely to have tiny newborns in their pouches – something you can learn more about by joining a guided quokka walk. The free, 45-minute tour departs daily from the meeting post at 2.15pm and will take you to all the best spots to enjoy this cheerful-looking, miniature wallaby that has now become a global social media star.
