VAST FLOCKS OF MIGRATORY WADING BIRDS, BROOME
On the shores of Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley, the Broome Bird Observatory is uniquely placed for visitors to enjoy views of hundreds of thousands of migratory shorebirds – many of which are in breeding-season finery in March. Half a million wading birds begin arriving in September from as far away as Siberia and stick around until returning to their breeding grounds from April on.
