The DREAM TEAMS

ANDREW P STREET SIZES UP THE GREATEST GUITAR DUOS IN HISTORY FOR OUR ULTIMATE DREAM TEAM TOP TEN... WHICH, IN TRUE ROCK’N’ROLL FASHION, GOES ALL THE WAY UP TO 11.

Australian Guitar - - Feature -

It’s hard to parse out the unique chemistry of a great guitarist team. Is it how they play together? How great they are on their own? When they know when to shut up and when to take it up a notch? Is it whether they look cool in the band photos? Ultimately, it’s pretty much all of those factors, plus dozens more. And that’s what makes lists like this such a subjective process. There are bound to be favourites missed out here – hell, here are some of mine: Black Francis and Joey Santiago! Ray and Dave Davies! Noel Gallagher and Bonehead! Miki Beryni and Emma Anderson! Marty Wilson-Piper and Peter Koppes! Justine Frischmann and Donna Matthews! Joe Strummer and Mick Jones! Johnny Marr and... More Johnny Marr! But this list was an attempt to cover a bunch of different eras, genres and styles. And in tribute to one of the all-time great double lead guitar partnerships – that of Nigel Tufnel and David St Hubbins – this list goes up to eleven.
