Torn and Fripp are both mas­ters of the art of loop­ing, and both have played with David Bowie (who seemed to be a mag­net for in­no­va­tive gui­tar play­ers). Both gui­tarists have such sin­gu­lar styles, and yet such broad discogra­phies that they are im­pos­si­ble to nail down or to steal too much in­flu­ence from.
