DYNAUDIO SPECIAL 40
The new loudspeaker Dynaudio launched at High End 2017 to celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Dynaudio ‘Special Forty’, is now available in Australia. The Dynaudio ‘Special Forty’ is a two-way standmount/shelfmount loudspeaker whose fabricdomed tweeter was designed and built specifically for it… though it’s based on the Esotar2. In addition to the new tweeter, Dynaudio has extensively modified one of the 170mm bass/midrange drivers that was developed for the newest Contour Series, and used this in the Special Forty. This driver features an ‘AirFlow’ basket, a fibreglass voice-coil former, Nomex spider and a hybrid neodymium/ferrite magnet. ‘ Dynaudio’s AirFlow Basket prevents internal reflections and vibrations in the drivers without compromising the stiffness and stability of the cone,’ says George Poutakidis of BusiSoft, which distributes Dynaudio in Australia.
Dynaudio rates the Special Forty with a frequency response of 41Hz to 23 kHz ±3dB and a nominal of 6 . It measures 198×360×307mm and is available in high gloss gray birch or high gloss red birch—finishes Dynaudio says it has never used before and are exclusive to this model. Available now, the Dynaudio Special 40 loudspeakers sell for $4,499 per pair (RRP).
