Naim Au­dio’s new Uniti Nova stream­ing am­pli­fier is one of four new mod­els Naim has added to its Uniti Se­ries. ‘ The new Naim Uniti Nova is proof that an all-in-one player can de­liver au­dio­phile qual­ity,’ said Chris Mur­phy, of N. Dis­trib­u­tors, which dis­trib­utes Naim in Aus­tralia. ‘ Which­ever source you choose, your mu­sic will be trans­formed into a stun­ning sonic ex­pe­ri­ence, be­cause the Nova has been con­fig­ured to de­liver the very best so­lu­tion for au­dio­philes in a sin­gle-box, com­pact en­clo­sure. All the avail­able space has been used to pro­vide 80-watts per chan­nel of Class A/B am­pli­fi­ca­tion ca­pa­ble of driv­ing the most de­mand­ing loud­speak­ers—de­tail and depth you’ll hear in ev­ery note, riff and cho­rus.’ The Uniti Nova na­tively sup­ports Google Cast and Blue­tooth (aptX HD) to al­low you to stream mu­sic to it from any smart­phone or tablet, and also AirPlay, so you can stream mu­sic from any iDe­vice, iTunes and Ap­ple Mu­sic. Tidal and Spo­tify are also in­te­grated, along with the abil­ity to play In­ter­net ra­dio, plus it has UPnP so you can connect to a com­puter or to net­work-at­tached stor­age. You can also play mu­sic via USB-con­nected stor­age or from an SD-card. For AV ap­pli­ca­tions the Uniti Nova has an HDMI ARC con­nec­tor. ‘ The Uniti has a com­pletely new, ex­tremely pow­er­ful and ver­sa­tile stream­ing board that’s much more pow­er­ful than its pre­de­ces­sor, has masses of mem­ory, will adapt to new tech­nol­ogy ef­fort­lessly and seam­lessly in­te­grates with other net­work-con­nected Naim sys­tems, in­clud­ing the Mu-so wire­less mu­sic sys­tem,’ said Mur­phy.

The Uniti Nova has two ana­logue in­puts, so you can connect a ter­res­trial AM/FM tuner, plus SPDIF in­puts, so you can connect a CD or SACD player. Dig­i­tal file for­mats sup­ported in­clude WAV, FLAC, DSD, Ap­ple Loss­less, AIFF, AAC, Win­dows Me­dia-for­mat­ted files, Ogg Vor­bis and MP3. An op­tional DAB mod­ule is avail­able for lis­ten­ing to ter­res­trial dig­i­tal ra­dio. The front panel of the Uniti Nova has a 127mm colour LCD dis­play that can show al­bum art­work and con­tent as well as mu­sic meta­data, and sys­tem sta­tus. Front panel but­tons and a top-mounted con­trol en­able a di­rect method of con­trol­ling the unit.
