BOSE SOUNDSPORT FREE EARPHONES
No, Bose’s new Soundsport earphones are not ‘free’, in fact a pair will set you back nearly $300. We think Bose intends the ‘Free’ bit to indicate that there are no wires required, thanks to Bluetooth connectivity. ‘ The SoundSport Free is the closest thing to what people have always wanted in a sport headphone,’ said Brian Maguire of Bose. ‘ They’re a technology-packed solution that’s stripped down to just two rugged IPX4-rated earbuds that feel great, stay connected, stay in, and sound amazing.’
Each SoundSport Free earbud includes Bluetooth and digital signal processing circuitry, and features what Bose calls ‘volume optimised equalisation’. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is claimed to be able to operate for up to five hours and the supplied magnetic storage/charging case can provide two additional charges without the need for external power, delivering 10 more hours of playback time.
‘ SoundSport Free uses proprietary StayHear+ tips to create a secure, firm fit that’s comfortable for hours,’ said Maguire. ‘ They’re rugged, built-to-last, and IPX4-rated to resist water and sweat.’ Wireless earphones are small and easy to lose, but if you lose Bose’s SoundSport Free earphones you can use the ‘Find My Buds’ feature in conjunction with the Bose Connect App to display the last time and place you used them. Available in three high-gloss colours—Black, Blue/Citron and Orange/ Blue—the Bose SoundSport Free earphones retail for $299.95.
