MK SOUND S-150MKII PRICE DROP

Australian HIFI - - SOUNDBITES -

One of M&K Sound’s longest-running and most popular models recently received a total update—drivers, crossover, cabinet tuning and construction. This updated model—the S-150MkII THX Ultra2—has also dropped considerably in price.

The S-150MkII THX Ultra2 uses three high-quality 25mm polymercoated silk soft-dome, ferro-fluid cooled dual-magnet tweeters aligned in a vertical array, that are positioned directly alongside two 133mmdiameter mineral-filled polypropylene coned bass/midrange drivers that have dual-magnet cast basket woofers. ‘ The S-150MkII THX Ultra2 design is based on M&K’s professional monitors and designed to accurately reproduce music and theatre system sound in small- to large-sized rooms,’ said Paul Riachi, of Indi Imports, which now distributes MK Sound in Australia. ‘ The S-150MkII delivers unparalleled transparency, accuracy, and dynamics while effortlessly handling voices, percussive effects, and musical instruments with life-like impact, and is timbre-matched to the MP-150 and S-150T.’

MK Sound says the original S-150 is used for sound monitoring in all the major US movie studios, including 20th Century Fox, Dolby Laboratories, DreamWorks SKG, DTS, HBO Productions, Lucasfilm, Paramount Studios, Skywalker Sound, Sony Music & Pictures, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios and Warner Brothers. The new S-150MkII THX Ultra2 speakers are specified as having a frequency response of 75Hz–20kHz ±3dB and a sensitivity of 92dBSPL (2.83V/1m). They’re available now, exclusively in a Black Satin finish. For further information, please contact Indi Imports on (03) 9416 7037 or visit the website at www.indimports.com
