Ask An Expert

All you need to know about dressing windows.

Australian House & Garden - - Contents -

An undressed window is like a dress without shoes. To finish a window in any treatment, be it blinds, shutters, louvres or sheers, is to realise the full potential of your aspect and your interior. As always, think texture and layering – materials are key. Matchstick blinds, slubby linens, floaty sheers and heavy velvets, even leather can make for a statement curtain. Keep hardware simple and slimline for a classic finish that won’t date. Consider whether you want your windows to be the statement or to frame the view beyond and choose your palette (bold or neutral) accordingly. Send decor questions (with name and address) to H&G Advice, GPO Box 4088, Sydney, NSW 1028 or email H&G@bauer-media.com.au.
