YOUR H&G

I couldn’t have loved the March issue of H&G any more. My heart sang as I separated the pages (stuck together from paint spilt during a kitchen project). I’m often disillusioned with the sameness of many decorating options, but each of your features had

Season’s greeting

What a way to begin autumn! Just as I was thinking summer’s heat would never end, I was thrilled to spot April H&G on my doorstep. Suddenly I found myself happily pondering how to add warmth to our home for the change of season, while drinking in all the rich blue and green accents that filled your pages. The icing on the Easter cake was the quote from designer Bunny Williams: “If you love something, it will work. That’s the only rule.” I’ll recite this every chance I get. Where the heart is

H&G, you always deliver such lovely surprises. As I read Sarah Armstrong’s On Home (April), I was transported back to the 1970s and our little house with its white vinyl siding, pebblecrete roof tiles and besser-block fence. Yes, we also had a folding door installed in the middle of the dining room to give my eldest son his own space when he was in year 11. The house has now gone and the children have their own families, but I have such happy memories of that little house that was our home for many years. Mary Gleason, Eastlakes, NSW

Kitchen confidante

Planning a kitchen reno on a tight budget calls for inspiration, especially when it needs to satisfy two adults who enjoy cooking and entertaining, plus withstand the onslaught of three young children. I found that in spades in Alexandra’s Freedom Kitchens makeover (March), which showed me that a beautiful, functional kitchen doesn’t have to cost the earth. I can just imagine myself there, clinking glasses with friends, or baking biscuits with my children. Thanks for ticking all the boxes on my wish list. Victoria Thackwray, Ivanhoe East, Victoria
