TYPICAL BEDROOM

Australian House & Garden - - Houses -

Guests retire to semi-rigid canvas tent structures, each with an ensuite featuring a glorious outdoor shower. All furniture and bedlinen are from Blu Peter. The dramatic portrait and other artworks in the house are the work of photographer David Ballam, who specialises in capturing the diverse beauty of the people, cultures and landscape of his native Africa. Adri-Ann stocks his art prints at Blu Peter.

BAR Built by Albert Kriel of Bela Madeira Carpentry, this popular feature incorporates natural and painted wood, with filigree cut-outs to soften the lighting. The barstools, also available to buy at Blu Peter, come from neighbouring Malawi.

MAIN LODGE Adri-Ann in her favourite spot to relax. Lying on the day bed, looking out to sea, it’s easy to see why the lodge’s name is derived from the Portuguese word for ‘blue wind’. The frame is sambiri, another local hardwood. Kelim rug from Turkey.
