Privateers: Ray Gulson
Regarding your top 25 Bathurst privateers, as you say there are many others that could have been included. One that I reckon should have been was Ray Gulson, who had 23 starts from 26 attempts (he did not qualify in 1976, ’81 and ’88) and he got the chequered flag in all 23 starts, although in 1986 and 1993 his cars didn’t complete enough laps to be classified as a finisher.
Regarding your story on the surviving Craven Mild A9X Torana, I thought the attached photo from Motoring Reporter, December 21, 1979 might be of interest. I wonder if those two wrecked shells went to the tip or if someone used them as the basis for a Sports Sedan. Scott Mackay Email
