GrantG O’Dea has owned his rare HR Premier X2 for 14 years. He was originally keen to purchase a first generation Monaro, but when the muscle car market exploded in the early noughties he found himself questioning the investment required. He spotted the Pyrenees Blue HR X2 for sale which was within his budget and “has never regretted it”. Grant is a member of the HD/HR Car Club of SA and his is believed to be the only original X2 in the club’s ranks, which number 65. What’s more, it’s an Adelaide-built vehicle. “I’ve driven it interstate three or four times to different HD/

HR Nationals. You do notice a big difference in performance with the X2 compared to the regular HR, especially going up hills because you’ve got the upgraded cam, factory headers and twin carbies. Admittedly, mine is the twospeed Powerglide, so you do lose a bit of power compared to the manual, but still the pick-up is noticeably better. And it sounds good too.”
