The model collection
Allan Moffat proudly shows off the 1:18 1977 Bathurst-winning Falcon XC from his substantial personal model race car collection. While Moffat’s collection does not reflect every single car he raced across his long career, it goes close – it is almost certainly the most comprehensive collection of Allan Moffat race car models in existence (capped off with a few of son James Moffat’s Supercars as well). In addition to the (extensive) selection of commercially available models, Moffat’s collection boasts a range of bespoke models painstakingly crafted by Allan’s custom model maker (or ‘plastic surgeon’, as Allan affectionately refers to him), Geoff Wood. Among the one-off Geoff Wood models you see here are the Coca-Cola Escort FVA, Boss Mustang in Union Travel livery, Trans-Am Mercury Cougar, Falcon XW ‘Super Falcon’ Improved Production racer, and the number 5 Mazda RX7 – Moffat’s original 1981 RX7 in the trim in which Moffat raced it in the Guia 200 Group 5 sportscar race at Macau that year.
