OUT OF ACTION
Some muscle cars are bought by loving owners who pamper them like members of the family. Other muscle cars, though, aren’t so lucky. Some get stolen, smashed or thrashed. Some get parked and lost under a layer of dust in an old shed, others get left outside to brave the elements and slowly rust away. Sad, but true.
We eyeball plenty of beautifully maintained and/or fully restored muscle classics in AMC, but as serious car pervs we have to admit there’s few things more intriguing – or exciting – than spotting an old classic in a paddock, or a shed, or under a shady tree, that’s seen better days and in need of some TLC. Some are beyond saving, but they all have a story to tell.
So, get out your cameras and start snapping some old muscle cars you come across in your travels that are definitely Out of Action, or close to it. We don’t want to know where they are and we won’t be publishing specific locations, because above all we must respect people’s privacy. We just want to see some good, clean pics of these forgotten cars and short personal stories to go with them. Send your entries to email@example.com or by post to Locked Bag 5555, St Leonards, NSW 2065.
This issue’s Out Of Action winner will receive a beaut 1:18 scale muscle car model from Classic Carlectables. AMC will contact this issue’s winner soon with further details. So, keep sending in those great photos and short stories for your chance to win!
Hi AMC, This is a real barnfind GTS Monaro. It was sitting undercover in an open shed for who knows how many years. We had it pulled out, cleaned it up, then bolted all the panels back on. This one will be back on the road as it will be easy to restore Cheers, Damien
Hi guys, Attached is a couple of photos I took of this old EH wagon which was left behind when my neighbour moved out. She said her husband drove it in there 35 years ago because he couldn’t afford the petrol. In later years he had told her he would put it back on the road but never did. She did offer it to me for nothing, but I have no way of getting it out as there are two sheds and a truck body blocking it in. Oh, as well as that blackberry bush covering it! Robert
