AppLink will be arriving in Australia later this year, making it easier (and more legal) for you to access apps on your smartphone while driving.
The tech will enable you to control apps that affect your driving experience using voice commands. This builds on Ford’s highly successful SYNC platform, which the automotive giant expects to have installed in 14 million cars by 2015.
Ford has kept its proprietary AppLink code open-sourced in order to entice developers to the platform, which has around 100 apps at present. With expansion into Australia, China and India this year and New Zealand, Taiwan and Thailand in 2015 we’ll hopefully be seeing more shortly. ford.com.au, out 2014
