Jack W hite
The White Stripes now long behind him, Jack White sounds like a man completely at ease with his own abilities. Having carved out a particular sound, he doesn’t seem interested in stepping beyond the limitations he’s set for himself. He knows what he’s good at and he’s comfortable in his niche.
Lazaretto is more slick in its production than the work of White’s iconic red and white duo, but it also lacks the unpredictable creative spark that always made them such an exciting listen. Despite this, White remains one of the world’s foremost purveyors of spiky blues and country-infused rock. Those who’ve followed the man up to this point – like many in the T3 office – will find a good deal to like here.
