Porsche Design Book One
US$2,495 ($3,335), porsche-design.com
That’s a bit much for a laptop, isn’t it?
This isn’t any old laptop, pal. The Porsche Design Book One pulls double duty, offering you the power of a high performance laptop with the convenience of a detachable, lightweight tablet complete with 13.3 inch, multi-touch QHD+ IPS display.
Double bubble! I like the swish design, too.
Us too. The Book One’s clean lines, brushed aluminium surfaces and polished edges are reminiscent of Porsche’s top-end motors, while its funky stainless steel VarioGear hinge was directly inspired by a sports car gearbox and delivers almost limitless angle options.
What’s lurking under the bonnet, then?
Whether you’re gaming, streaming or working, the Intel 7th Gen Core i7 processor, 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM take care of business. Concerned about power? No need, as two lithium-polymer batteries can withstand up to 14 hours of abuse and fully recharge in less than two hours. There are also ample connections for your accessories, including single USB Type-C 3.1 and Intel Thunderbolt ports, as well as a pair of USB-A 3.0 ports.
Security’s important to me. What can it do in this area?
If you’re security-conscious, a 5MP infrared camera and Windows Hello mean you can log into your private area using facial recognition tech.
Awesome. When can I get one?
The Porsche Design Book One is available for pre-order now.
