Toomey comes on board
Local Eaton general manager Martin Toomey has joined Scania Australia as head of sales
Outgoing Scania Australia managing director Roger McCarthy announced Martin Toomey’s appointment, which is seen as complementing the skill set of McCarthy’s replacement, Mikael Jansson.
Through his tenure, McCarthy has held a dual role as managing director and sales director for truck bus and engines. That will now change. “As part of our reorganisation and to really strengthen the management structure, with Mikael coming very much from an aftersales background, we have taken the decision to introduce a new head of truck bus and engines sales.
“Martin Toomey, who was with the Eaton Corporation, will join Scania as the head of our sales organisation truck, bus and engine sales, effective in the next few days.”
Toomey has 17 years of industry experience, working for multinational component suppliers at General Manger level, both locally and across Asia.
“I am excited to be joining Scania at this stage in the company’s history,” he says.
“Over the past few years, Scania’s rise under Roger McCarthy’s leadership has been resolute and admirable.
“Scania is evolving its hardware and software products and services into a new paradigm, whereby we will increasingly play the role of an insightful business partner to our customers, offering them solutions tailored to their exact needs.
“We will be looking to bring many more customers to the Scania family, as well as to expand the scope of our offer to our existing customers, in order to facilitate their journey to greater profitability.
“Given the high degree of localisation we are able to add to specialist applications for customers, Scania Australia could become the global benchmark within the company for specialised and high productivity vehicle solutions.
“The lessons we learn in this market, given our arduous operating and far-reaching compliance environment, can benefit other markets in the Scania world.”
