Quick action controls fire

Avon Valley Gazette - - NEWS -

A QUICK response from York firefighters averted what could have developed into a serious fire on Great Southern Highway just west of York on Sunday.

A motorist travelling on the highway noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet of his car. He stopped on the side of the road, lifted the bonnet and the car was quickly engulfed in flames. The fire quickly spread into nearby paddocks.

Firefighters were soon on the scene and brought what have been a devastating blaze under control. No one was injured and the highway was temporarily closed. The car was destroyed.
