New nursing home site option

Avon Valley Gazette - - NEWS -

KALAMUNDA Shire council will discuss an area of land 2.27ha wide in Glyde Road, Lesmurdie, that some residents feel would make a suitable alternative location for a nursing home in the Hills.

Trying to find a location that suits everyone will be a hard task for planners but Walliston resident Tim Colegate thinks he has the solution.

The land is listed for discussion at the council meeting on February 23.

It is listed for rezoning from local reserve to residential R5, which allows for big- ger dwellings to be built.

Mr Colegate said the site would be a lesser fire risk than the plot of land in Wilkins Road which has currently been earmarked by the Shire to build a new aged care facility.

“The land on Glyde Road is also close to IGA, the Villa Maria Aged Care Hostel and some facilities could be shared,” Mr Colegate said.

He has urged all councillors to consider the idea before the next council meeting.

Tim Colegate wants Wilkins Rd Reserve left alone.
