LOWER Chittering independent school Immaculate Heart College welcomed Year 6 students for the first time this year.

The small but growing school now caters for kindergarten to Year 6 students and offers a weekly playgroup at Lower Chittering Hall.

The building contract was recently signed for stage one of Immaculate Heart College’s permanent primary school building, which will include four large classrooms, an undercover area, ablution block and storage room.

Construction will commence in mid-March and once ready the facilities will host middle to senior primary classes.

Work has also started on Immaculate Heart College’s two nature-based play areas.

Along with high quality facilities, the school aims to provide an exceptional learning program for all students.

“Immaculate Heart College promotes a high academic standard with attention to literacy and numeracy skills as well as speciality areas such as modern Greek, traditional Greek dance and piano tuition,” principal Dr Angela Evangelinou-Yiannakis said.

“We have a strong Catholic ethos, with religious sisters teaching the Catholic faith and a virtues program daily.”
