Abil­ity to nom­i­nate

SHIRE of Mun­dar­ing’s Cel­e­bra­tion of Abil­ity Award will re­turn next year, with nom­i­na­tions now open.

The award ac­knowl­edges in­di­vid­u­als who in­clude peo­ple with dis­abil­ity in their busi­ness, com­mu­nity and per­sonal ac­tiv­i­ties.

The launch of the award co­in­cides with In­ter­na­tional Day of Peo­ple with Dis­abil­ity on De­cem­ber 3.

Shire Pres­i­dent David Lavell said peo­ple as­sist­ing in the area of dis­abil­ity played many vi­tal roles.

“The award recog­nises peo­ple in both paid and vol­un­teer roles who make a real dif­fer­ence to the lives of oth­ers by eas­ing some of the so­cial iso­la­tion that can be ex­pe­ri­enced by peo­ple with dis­abil­ity,” he said.

“Peo­ple who work in this area can also as­sist to pro­vide work op­por­tu­ni­ties, ad­vo­cacy or pro­vide in­clu­sive ac­tiv­i­ties.”

Nom­i­na­tion forms are avail­able at sev­eral venues, in­clud­ing the Shire ad­min­is­tra­tion build­ing, lo­cal li­braries, the Hub of the Hills, Mun­dar­ing Shar­ing, Mun­dar­ing Com­mu­nity Bank Branch Bendigo Bank and RISE. Nom­i­na­tions close on Jan­uary 25.
