Cats pounce back with winning mindset

Avon Valley Gazette - - SPORT - With Greg Hire

WHAT a difference a couple of weeks make.

Heading into the Christmas break, there were a lot of questions about the direction of the club. Internally, while tough decisions were being made, our team never wavered in supporting each other and driving towards success.

The result against the Adelaide 36ers didn’t go our way in round 12, but there were positive signs.

The win against the Illawarra Hawks in the next round was one of the more satisfying in my career.

We were down a player, we hadn’t got too many away wins and we were playing against an in- form and talented Hawks outfit.

Since that victory, we’ve had the addition of Bryce Cotton and anyone who has watched our games will know he is going to contribute immensely.

We’ve also seen our captain and leader Damian Martin re- enter the fold from injury.

Against Brisbane, I saw a side of us that I haven’t really seen all year; the belief that we could win no matter the margin.

That mindset can be powerful.
