PEO­PLE are in­vited to take part in the re­lease of 3000 baby pink snap­per this Satur­day af­ter the event was post­poned from last week­end be­cause of the bad weather.

It is part of the re­lease of 50,000 ju­ve­nile pink snap­per into Cock­burn Sound this month, the sec­ond in­stal­ment of Rec­fish­west’s Snap­per Guardians.

Baby snap­per col­lected as eggs from the wild were hatched and raised in the Aus­tralian Cen­tre for Ap­plied Aqua­cul­ture Re­search’s fa­cil­i­ties.

“Cock­burn Sound’s pink snap­per stock is one of the most im­por­tant fish stocks in WA – th­ese waters are home to the largest spawn­ing ag­gre­ga­tions of this species on the West Coast,” Rec­fish­west chief ex­ec­u­tive An­drew Row­land said.

About 3000 baby pink snap­per will be re­leased
