THE October school holidays are almost here and Nearer to Nature has plenty of activities to get kids out and about exploring nature at the Perth Hills Discovery Centre.

Nearer to Nature program co- ordinator Jill Francis said from Camouflage capers to being a Palaeontologist for a day, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

“Four to seven- year- old children have the opportunity to learn about how our native animals use camouflage as a survival skill in the popular Camouflage capers activity,” she said.

“Children will have the opportunity to play some exciting games and create their very own cool camouflage cape to take home.

“For the older kids, Ramble with a ranger is a great chance to learn the tricks of the trade and learn what it takes to run a national park.

“Kids will learn how to use a two- way radio, read a map, navigate using a compass and even learn how fire works when they spend the day with a real- life ranger.”

Ms Francis said Palaeontologist for a day was another popular activity for the older kids.

“Children will discover facts about the marvellous mega- beasts that once roamed the earth,” she said.
