DIG DEEP FOR NEEDY
MISSION Australia is calling for donations to help make its Christmas Lunch in the Park another roaring success.
It’s the nation’s biggest Christmas Day charity event and takes place in Wellington Square, East Perth, providing Christmas lunches to more than 1000 West Australians experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.
“The countdown is on with less than 100 days to go until Christmas, and we are hoping that the West Australian community and businesses will dig deep and show their support for people who are in need at Christmas,” Mission Australia state director Jo Sadler said.
Big or small, every donation helps.
“A donation of $ 30 provides a person in need with Christmas lunch, or buys a Christmas gift for a child, while $ 50 provides a Personal Care Pack,” Ms Sadler said.
The care pack for guests is a new initiative being introduced to Christmas Lunch in the Park this year.
“Each guest will be given a Personal Care Pack in place of a traditional gift,” Ms Sadler said.
“The pack will be filled with a range of essential, everyday personal care items, from toothbrushes to sunblock, soap to shampoo.
“We are looking for organisations to partner with us to provide bulk donations of personal care products that our guests will take away with them and benefit from in the weeks after the event.”
