HUNDREDS of swimmers will converge on Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow for an open water swimming event next month.

Mundaring Shire President David Lavell said this year’s event on November 12, organised by the Maida Vale Masters Swimming Club, was open to all swimmers.

“I am thrilled we can offer our spectacular Lake Leschenaultia as a venue for this exciting event,” he said.

“It’s been great that Maida Vale Masters have showcased one of the Shire’s most popular locations since their first event in 1986.

“Back then there were only 26 swimmers, but numbers have since grown significantly and this year we expect to see more members of the wider swimming community come along and enjoy this wonderful location.”

This year Swimming WA has nominated the Open Water event at Lake Leschenaultia as one of its targeted swims.

Start times on the day will be staggered with the 400m novice event ( open to nine years and older) hitting the water first at 9.45am, followed by the main event, a 1.6km swim. To register, go to bit. ly/ 2y4Qel7
