SHIRE OF MUNDARING
“ARE you ready?” is the question the Shire of Mundaring is asking locals in the lead up to the bushfire season.
Mundaring Shire President David Lavell said bushfires were part of living in WA.
“We cannot stress strongly enough that people cannot afford to be complacent about bushfires,” Cr Lavell said.
“We are acutely aware of the potentially devastating consequences of a bushfire as we saw in the Parkerville fires in 2014.
“To help people prepare, local volunteers are holding a range of community events – this is a great opportunity to get to know your neighbours and discuss your bushfire plan.”
Cr Lavell said connecting to the community was one way to give your family the best chance if a fire occurs.
“I urge all residents to read through the DFES publication ‘ Prepare Act Survive’ and familiarise yourself with the DFES Fire Chat campaign,” he said.
